PLATFORMA and the Charter

PLATFORMA has been ensuring the technical Secretariat of the European Charter on Development cooperation in support of local governance since February 2010. 

Launched during the European Development Days of Strasbourg in November 2008, this document, drafted by the different actors of cooperation involved in local governance, has been annexed to the EC Communication "Local Authorities: Actors of Development" and approved by the EU Council of Ministers. It is an unique framework for dialogue between the different actors of the support to local governance, giving indications to apply the Paris Declaration at the local and regional level. 

Through the promotion of this document PLATFORMA wants to reinforce the dialogue with the other EU actors of Development cooperation, and show the involvement of Local and Regional authorities towards more effectiveness and professionalism in their development cooperation actions.
