What is PLATFORMA?

PLATFORMA coordinates the voice of European local and regional authorities in the field of development cooperation.

Launched in 2008, its main objectives are:

> To present a common message to the European institutions, in particular for the definition and implementation of European development policies

> Facilitate networking of information and sharing experiences

> Strengthen the participation of European local and regional authorities in European development programmes

> Strengthen links with civil society

Highlights from PLATFORMA regional seminar for Africa
PLATFORMA first regional seminar, which took place in Kampala (Uganda), allowed a decentralised and direct dialogue between local and regional elected representatives from Africa and the European Commission. Such a dialogue appears fundamental to steer the Union’s development policy towards local population concrete needs.
