Citizen in Europe, Citizen in the World
Discussing citizens engagement in development issues, the PLATFORMA workshop “Citizen in Europe, Citizen in the World”, organised in the context of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions’ (CEMR) conference on citizenship and twinning, underlined the need to develop a new narrative for decentralised cooperation which focuses on the involvement of citizens and on fostering local governance.
The European Year for Development – the road towards an engaged and active citizenship
The year 2015 will comprise many high-level events whose conclusions will prove decisive for the sustainable future, namely the adoption of the new sustainable development agenda and the Paris Climate Conference, and has most fittingly been designated as the European Year for Development, a thematic year dedicated to the global pursuit of human dignity.
The European Parliament approves a resolution regarding the post-2015 development framework
The European Parliament has approved a resolution on “the EU and the global development framework after 2015” in which members of parliament recall the importance of focusing on the eradication of poverty and the defence of Human Rights.
